Graphic and Unconscious Communication: Automatism and Gesture in the Construction of Inhabited/Wandered Space

I want to delve into what my subconscious mind revelas, to enjoy the poetry and beauty of what usually stays hidden and to enjoy the beauty of what is always by my side. Those connections, the one that are difficult to identify and never before written down become the structure for a metaphor: What happens when unexpected new actions clash against what was previously established. I want to observe those, and question what it says about what has previously been accepted as the norm.

Thinking about the interferences in my surrounding environment, or as I like to call it, the product of stimulating the inner self, will sometimes turn into an obsession. It always starts as something small, since I’m not a fan of strong stimuli, such as an object out of place, an unexpected movement, or other similar disorienting occurrences. The thought sneaks up on me, and it triggers a tingle in my brain, even before my conscious self can understand what happened.

An instant. A moment. One’s circumstances. A play. Trial and error. Encounters that lead to nonsensical outcomes to come up on top. I don’t care about inhabiting a material space. I don’t care about what’s meant to be objective either. What I’m most interested in is observing occurrences happening inside said material space. I’m interested in how it’s subjectively perceived by each individual.I believe our subconscious thoughts are the ones in charge of whatever is currently happening to and around us. In charge of whatever doesn’t need our attention to get noticed or resolved. Any event that happens unexpectedly is then collected by the same subconscious train of thought and presented to us as a gut feeling.I then start the process of automatic drawing, letting the mind flow freely, and depict whatever residual images are left deep between myself.

Objectives

To put together the actions and interferences of unconscious processes that occur in my environment and present that same space as if talking of a human subject.
– To reflect on the perceived energy of actions and/or objects, regardless of how fragile or unknown they are.
– To present graphically an experience that is the complete opposite of what you would consider the reality that surrounds you.
– To free oneself of symbols we have subconsciously accepted, such as the passage of time.
– To study and analyze whatever connections one’s psyche reveals.
– To purposely distort what we believe our senses to present as the truth and observe further than we did before, and force those senses to switch gears.
– To get the viewer to engage in self reflection.
